Charles L. Levy, licensed to practice law in Texas since February, 1984, currently resides in Waco, Texas, offering legal services as a sole practitioner through his firm, the Law Office of Charles L. Levy, as well as through his association with the law firm of Rosenthal & Watson, P.C. in an of counsel capacity.
Following his graduation from the Baylor School of Law, as valedictorian, Mr. Levy entered the insurance business, becoming President and Chief Operating Officer of a mid-size Texas-based insurance group, including various insurance companies licensed to do business in various regions of the United States in the property and casualty, and life and health fields. Additionally, for approximately 7 years, Mr. Levy taught insurance law at the Baylor School of Law as an adjunct professor, teaching a class in creditors' rights law during part of this time period.
For years, Mr. Levy has spoken to various insurance industry groups and attorneys at insurance-related meetings and seminars, and has authored a considerable number of articles pertaining to insurance law, including issues related to: insured's and insurer's duties, agent issues, misrepresentation and rescission, extra-contractual obligations, non-insurance tort theories and the claim process, and subrogation. In addition, Mr. Levy is a past Chairman of the Consumer Law Section of the State Bar of Texas (now the Commercial and Consumer Law Section), and on two occasions served as the course director for the Ultimate Insurance Seminar (a premier insurance law seminar offered through the Consumer Law Section).
Since entering the private practice of law in the late 1980s, Mr. Levy's practice has been largely dedicated to insurance and general civil litigation. Furthermore, Mr. Levy has been, and continues to be, retained as a consulting and testifying expert regarding various insurance laws and issues by numerous law firms, including on behalf of various Texas and out-of-state based insurance companies. Mr. Levy currently holds an AV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Furthermore, prior to entering law school in 1981, and following his graduation with highest honors from the University of Texas with a BBA in accounting in 1979, Mr. Levy was employed by Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. He was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant by the Texas Board of Public Accountancy in 1981, keeping his license active until 2003.
Mr. Levy is the father of David, Rebecca, and Arielle, and performs various public service and charitable activities in the Waco area, currently holding positions as an officer or director for various not-for-profit entities.
